Robert Magee

As a boy in Toronto, the romance of the West captured Robert Magee’s imagination. Today this deeply enduring interest in the people and horses of the West translates into the very foundation of his art.

After moving to Calgary in 1989, Robert fulfilled his lifelong passion for capturing Canadian historic events and modern anthologies in his artwork. His art has been enjoyed by thousands of Canadians, both young and old. An ever-growing series of major exhibitions, books, limited edition prints, corporate and private collections, media reports, a documentary on the History Channel and extensive work with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Calgary Stampede are just a few of the ways Robert has shared his work with Canadians of all ages.

In Toronto, he owned his own Corporate and Communication Design firm with clients such as Dow chemical and TransCanada Pipelines. After 30 years, Robert left the high pressure, high stakes world of advertising and went back to being an artist.

Over the past year, Robert has been commissioned to do several paintings. Many of his previous paintings have been reproduced using the giclée method, which he is extremely happy with.

Robert's world looks fondly back to a simpler time, and renews the viewer's excitement of the old West. His affection for this subject has made him a national favorite in Canada, and his success is bound to grow even further as exposure to his body of work increases, as many others share his enthusiasm.
